For some reason, I've had the following lyrics in my head all day:
"With my freezeray I will stop the world."
If you don't already know it, don't miss it while it's free. It's a very funny anti-super-hero movie, and it's a musical, and...(Firefly fans pay special attention)

Warning: I'd give it a PG-13 for a couple of sexual references.
A couple thoughts: They were doing a fine job of making Captain Hammer a total jerk before he got so descriptive in his motivations. Did he really need to spell out what his "hammer" was? I think Whedon is a great story-teller, and creates these wonderful characters, but then feels the need to add these nasty bits into his creations. As much as I like Firefly, there were elements that were not so great, and I wonder how those parts would have developed if the show had gotten a fair shake.
ReplyDeleteAs for the story of Dr. Horrible, I just felt really sorry for the character. He got all the glory and the humiliation of the hero, at the cost of what made him likable. I think that can be an important message. Dreams of glory, and adulation, and riches can be achieved, but is the cost worth it?
So I definitely have mixed feelings about this, um, 'show'.
Agreed. Like Firefly, there were definitely parts better left out.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you guys.
ReplyDeleteTim, the same song was stuck in my head for a couple of days last week, too.
