The law firm that I clerk at made front page news on Cincinnati's newspaper a couple of days ago. Front, top, center. Not too shabby, considering there are only five attorneys at the Cincinnati location. It probably helped that a local sports team was involved (fans sued them and won). The important stuff the firm does--the life and death stuff (and the stuff that makes the money) may make the news, but not the front page. The stuff I'm working on won't be hitting page 22 of the local news for another year at least, if at all.
Anyway, we're visiting Utah/Idaho in two weeks, and I'm going to be dropping my name and my resume at a couple of law firms. Being the first person in my extended family to ever attend law school (although at least two relatives plan on following in my footsteps), and as my home ward is entirely lawyer-less, my attorney connections are limited to one friend's dad. So if any of you know any attorneys (especially ones that work for places that do environmental, medical, or pharmaceutical work) let me know. I'll need all the help I can get.
I still have two more years left, but now's the time to apply for summer work next year, and that job is usually the job that hires you on after graduation, so we might be spending next summer in Utah (or somewhere else out west) if I get lucky.

My dad's best friend from childhood--Russ Cline--is one of the partners at Crippen & Cline in SLC. He was able to help us find one of his associates to help with my adoption of Wolf a few years ago. I don't know how broad the firm is, but it might be worth a call. Tell him you're dad's nephew of course--as soon as he found out who my dad was he bent over backwards to be helpful for me.
My brother-in-law is also a lawyer (real estate) but he works for a very small firm. I don't know any details, but if you'd like me to get you his contact info let me know and I can email you.
Funny thing--my mom's old best friend is his sister, and he's the only attorney my parents really know (although I don't recall ever meeting him). I actually already got in touch with him, although I might want to call him one more time. I know his firm is very small and not hiring (and they're not doing the kind of work I'm interested in either). Thanks for the recommendation. I really don't know how I lived life in Utah without knowing more attorneys.
Oh, also funny--he married my mission president's daughter (I believe they were both a bit older when they got married, as it happened not long before I got called on my mission).
There's a copyright lawyer on the other side of my family who has been helping us with our insurance issue (yeah, it's not his field, but he's still helping us). He lives in AZ but I think is considering a move to UT and is actually in UT right now. I could get you in contact with him, if you're interested. But I don't know if copyright is your thing...
Hope you get lucky.
