What's the latest you'd call a family you don't know well, on a weeknight, for a non-emergency? What's the earliest in the morning you'd call?
The message we received this morning reminded me of why I like to turn phones off at night. Since our house phone is run through the computer (magicJack, the poor people's phone, which has saved us hundreds of dollars so far), turning the phone off is effortless. And it stops those annoyingly late phone calls in their tracks.

I go with about 9am and 9pm...maybe 8am if it's someone that I know works or has kids in school and I know they will be up. I figure even if people are up early though they are probably busy getting ready.
honestly, I put my kids to bed at 8, so it feels late to me if someone calls later than that, but I don't mind so long as it's before 9ish...
The only exception would be if someone specifically said to call them at a certain time. For example my dad used to teach early morning seminary before commuting up to teach school. The only time he could reliably be reached was between 5:30-6am--and we always told people that. They rarely needed him badly enough to call at that time, but occasionally someone did!!
Ditto what Jenni said. Occasionally I'll call after 9 pm and sometimes earlier than 9 am (as long as I know about the work/school thing). I figure that time frame is safe to not wake people, though I know most people go to bed later than that.
I stick to the 9 to 9 rule, too. Although, living in college singles wards for so long, there are some calls I'm still making on a 10:30 to 10:30 rule, too.
Glad to see I'm not off-base. I was also thinking 9, give or take a few minutes.
They left a message. I didn't return it. I'm petty like that.
9 to 9 is pretty standard I think.
