Happy checks and Sunbeams

April and I got a visit from three men last week. That's right. The entire bishopric stopped by; they called us to teach the 8-year old primary kids. Team teachers. Lots of fun. So why the headline about Sunbeams?
Sunday night, a member of the primary presidency stopped by. "Actually, things have changed, and you'll be teaching the Sunbeams." So we'll be in charge of keeping eight or so (14 on the roll) Sunbeams occupied for hours at a time.
Reminds me of a long time ago when I was incorrectly called to be the datebox co-chair; I was incredibly relieved when I immediately got a call about the mistake. This time, though, I get the scarier position.
Also, update on the refund check. The company actually sent us a check returning 100% of what we'd paid, when the cancellation agreement stated that we'd only get part of it back. Pretty sweet deal! And my mom always said complaining never accomplishes anything...

Have fun with Sunbeams! As far as I can tell, coloring works well with girls, but play-doh works better with boys. At least you're coming in for the middle of the year, and not when they're straight from nursery! :) You have my sympathies, best wishes, and luck--Sunbeams can be a ton of fun or a nightmare...

Great news about the check. However, I'm sure you never had the same kind of leverage against your mom when complaining to her that you did with the rental place. It's kind of like blackmail. I don't know if complaining is going to get you out teaching the Sunbeams!

Atleast with Sunbeams you get to see other big people! They could have put you in nursery. Not that it's bad, just a little secluded. A little practice with munchkins never hurt anyone :)

Sunbeams are great because they are uninhibited about loving you! They love you for you! You'll just have to find some creative teaching solutions (ex: we have a friend that has "Tigger" help her teach the lesson. Whatever works). It's amazing how much those little ones can learn. Good luck and have fun!

My wife taught sunbeams for a while, and based on her experience, I'll give this one piece of advice: have a LOT of activities planned, so you can change it up whenever they grow restless: a lesson, coloring, a song, play-doh, another piece of the lesson, a new song, a game, you get the idea.
Good luck!
